Energy runs our Reality.
“You Cannot See Me From Where I Look At Myself” – Francesca Woodman
A snaking chocolate-ink handwritten note next to a sketched blooming cactus in my journal reads “saying goodbye to summer is hard.” Time to get rolling! Back to more routine. Less sunlight and warm, clear nighttime strolls. Less fresh harvested kale from my garden with fiber, phytoestrogens and phytochemicals that balance my hormones and support natural liver detoxification!
Somewhat shocking, this summer has brought HARMONY – cultivating, clearing, containing. A time to renew my ENERGY. A time for honest conversations. I admit in these times I have missed more candid in-person eye-to-eye talks over caramel affogados of the nature of the candidates, currency, college life, closings, climate change and countrysides.
My clients think of themselves in many different ways: individuals, entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, businesses, organizations. We one hundred percent understand that having a constant supply of ENERGY is absolutely necessary if you want to be successful!
Things come up in work, in life that seem heart-stoppingly tense. ENERGY is a key piece to long-term fulfillment and sustainable success. A most important trait of an entrepreneur is ENERGY. And organizations want employees that are FULLY ENGAGED.
I have been getting questions about tuning into your own ENERGY as part of empowerment and manifestation. Further down I share some fun relatable RENEWAL things I find work for me, plus I personally explore important questions around ENERGY!
A self-identified solopreneur shared that CLEARING her ENERGY is a natural and frequent part of her routine. A CEO offered that he is observing the power of his ENERGY and INTUITION in his business – as it relates to responding to people and situations with intuition, opportunity, creativity and curiosity - versus distraction, distress, worry, and blame.
I bring my pure, honest and multidimensional ENERGY wholeheartedly to work every day. I love that there is dimensionality in all of us! What is the relationship to your depth? I’m deep, disciplined, creative, paradoxical, strong, introverted, curious, structured, and at times spontaneous. To clear and transform energy, let go of any negativity you hold about yourself! We don’t always have control over what happens to us, but we have control over how to react.
Pema Chodron says “Feel the feelings. Drop the story.” When people take more control of their emotions, they can improve the quality of their energy. As long as the mind keeps churning stories it’s pretty easy to feed obsessive thinking or ignite already heightened emotions. When I am feeling positive energy, I perform best! If I slip into negative emotions or fight or flight mode because of external pressures, in comes anxiety, confusion, irritability and insecurity. I can’t think clearly. I don’t feel CLEAR. My meditation practice gives me clarity on what is important in my life, so my energy can flow in the right direction. Deep listening, which happens with silence and stillness lets us tune into our core frequency. Radical self-inquiry helps to get to the root of our pain.
There are many different modalities out there that lead to presence, connection to our body, to a source grander than ourselves. Many are turning inward to find personal authenticity and authority. It’s an inner journey and some like to work with a coach who knows the trials and pitfalls and understands the reasons and rewards for the journey.
I have been receiving questions about tuning into your own ENERGY as a part of empowerment and manifestation.
But first a look at Renewal. As times become increasingly complex, conversations become more straightforward. We engage in pure and honest conversation and take a direct look into the past with the future ahead.
Take time for RENEWAL.
I personally like to use a salt or sugar cocoa butter scrub in the shower once a week, drink nettle tea infusions, use Ayurveda oils on my skin, exercise and sweat – very often. I’ll take a contrast shower - immerse myself in hot then cold water back and forth. The sudden burst of cold water brings blood to your vital organs and activates your parasympathetic nervous system. This gives a boost in energy! Upon rising, I will ring my tibetan bell and meditate. I’ll walk barefoot on dry grassy or wet muddy earth. Take a brisk hilly bike ride. Maybe do some sun salutations, mountain pose - or de-fuse any negative emotions with breathwork. I light a beeswax candle at the dinner table for low light and calm vibes – almost every night. When I go to a city and have access, I will frequent a Jjimjilbang, a Korean bathhouse, for a mugwort bath, a body scrub and sauna to unwind, detox and improve blood circulation. (When I lived in LA, I’d lay myself down and rest after a very long work day in the Jim-Jil-Bang, jade sauna room - a low temperature dry sauna.) On occasion I’ll take an eighteen minute nap to settle chaotic energy. REST is a very effective way to give the mind and emotions space to calm down. Sometimes I’ll smudge certain spaces with plant matter like sage or sweetgrass (I’m told it helps with aura clearing).
Try these breathwork steps:
· Inhale for a count of three
· Pause
· Exhale for a count of five
· Hold your breath (or lack of breath) for three to five counts
Do these long, slow deliberate breaths a few times.
ENERGY: Are you aligned with your own Energy? What energy do you emanate and give to yourself and others?
I am not aligned with my own Energy signs:
Things start to feel lackluster. I'm not as enthusiastic about my business as I would usually be if I was aligned. (Note: I cultivate positive or virtuous states of mind via meditation - which actually creates the emotional brain neural connections for us to embody and become that virtuous state in real life!)
I feel negative self-chatter coming in, blocked by barriers - limiting the vision and progress that I have for my life and the business. (Note: Squash any negative self-speak in your head.)
I feel low energy, indifferent, fussy. (Note: I find that one of the first signs of feeling fatigue is when my body is short on fluids. Water is the main component of blood and is essential for carrying nutrients to the cells and taking away waste products. Sometimes I’ll even do a still water meditation by putting a drop of water into the palm of my hand for a short sitting practice. Important: I consciously make a choice to be around people that are good for my health.)
I self-sabotage by spinning stories, obsessive thinking and staying up too late at night. (Note: Sleep is a very necessary practice for mind-body health. Rest is about recharge, refresh, reset and reorganize. It recharges our ability to deal with commitments and relationships. Sleep also dissolves the ego mind and allows our unconscious to speak to us through our dreams.)
I feel stressed and not inspired to create. I feel creatively blocked and isolated. I’ll think of a “clear” way to do things, compare myself to others, and try to fit into that picture. (Note: I’ve thought things like –I’m not getting as many likes as them because I lack outgoingness, revealing images, charisma, and I spend time off-grid sans internet which is imposing. And, simultaneously think, isn’t it time to dismantle current beauty standards to be more inclusive? Social comparisons hurt. People are psychologically disinclined to be satisfied with what they have. Stress is an issue that requires day-to-day mindfulness. Stay curious and take ownership for managing stress levels in your life!)
I can feel like I am flowing upriver, then with the flow. I don’t seem to just accept imagination for imagination’s sake. I may not yet fully get the clear way about something that I am thinking of implementing and I spend a lot of time trying to solidify the idea.
I lose a sense of presence, in the here & now. I feel scattered, all over the map.
I am aligned with my own Energy signs:
I feel exhilarated by new ideas and feel inspired, open & free! I feel like anything in any moment is possible for me, like I could have a massive shift in the exposure of my work and make much more of an impact!
I want to be outside more. To go on an adventure, or recline under the stars. There is just more flow.
More and more people are seeking my advice, opinion, thoughts and guidance.
I get vivid visions of the life I desire to have and the energy I want to embody.
I release worry and defensiveness. I aim for goals that feel exciting for myself and I release the outcome. This is pretty key to manifestation!
Generative ideas come to me for other people and my work.
I feel close and intimate to my business. I have more awareness around what the business feels like to me when its thriving. I get less confused and don’t mix up what I thought I should be doing with what I really wanted to do.
I attract people that are real, kind and insightful.
My work feels expansive and alive - I can’t wait to get out there more and show up and live my life! I see the vibe and essence of Alexandra Advisory Services and its specific. It’s meaningful and connected. It’s kind hearted. It’s happiness. It’s motivational. It’s compassion and gratitude. It’s luxe. It’s down-to-earth. It’s unconditional friendliness. Its to treat the world and each other better. To create positive economic and social impact.
My intuition is awakened! Strong in spirit.
If you have a business, or an emerging endeavor maybe recreate this for your vibe and work. A key to aligning with your own energy is to TRUST YOURSELF. Confidence is BEAUTIFUL.
